Our coffee god - The story behind the Cofitur logo

Vera Richartz

A logo is like a visual promise. It not only says who we are, but also what is important to us. When we founded Cofitur, we knew this: Our logo shouldn't just be pretty - it should tell a story. Of origin, of culture, of depth.

And that led us to the idea of a coffee god - a figure that is more than just a mascot. It is a symbol of everything that defines our work: respect for the origin, connection to the land, attention to detail.

San Agustín - Where it all began

Anyone who has ever been to San Agustín in southern Colombia immediately senses that this place is special. Between misty mountains, lush greenery and a wild river lies a treasure of pre-Columbian history - the archaeological park of San Agustín.

There are over 500 mysterious stone figures here, some of which are over 2,000 years old. They guard tombs, tell of ancestor worship, nature deities and a world view in which man, earth and cosmos were inseparable.

It was precisely this imagery - powerful, symbolic, grounded - that deeply inspired us. The sculptures there are not decoration. They are an expression of an understanding of the world. And they ask you when you stand in front of them: Where do you come from? What do you carry with you?

What you can discover in our logo

Our coffee god is a modern homage to these figures. It combines what Cofitur is all about - with clear symbolism:

  • 🌿 The plant on the head is a reminder of the growth that begins with each new day. It stands for the coffee plant itself, but also for ideas, for transformation.

  • ⛰️ The curved lines on its body show the typical hills of Huila. There, at 1,500 to 2,000 meters, our beans grow - slowly, but with character.

  • 🔆 The sun circling above the figure is more than just a circle. It stands for energy, cycle, harvest. And for the rhythm of life here on the fincas.

  • ☕ He wears the coffee bean on his neck like an amulet - as a reminder that coffee is not a lifestyle here, but the basis of life. It is the centerpiece - also of our logo.

A symbol with meaning

We wanted a logo that wasn't smooth and generic. But one that asks questions. One that creates a connection - between those who drink coffee and those who grow it.

For our travelers, the coffee god is a small signpost. For our partner fincas, it is a sign of appreciation. And for us, it is a daily reminder: that coffee is more than just taste. That every project needs a foundation. And that origin counts.
